The Institute of Marine Biology of the University of Montenegro invites citizens, conference participants and visitors to Kotor to visit the Seafood Fair on Tuesday, 22 September, from 5 to 8 p.m., which will be held in the courtyard of the Aquarium Boka, as part of the international conference on the protection of Adriatic biodiversity AdriBioPro2026.
The event is of a charitable nature, and all proceeds collected through the sale of coupons and donations will be directed to humanitarian causes.
That evening, the courtyard of the Aquarium Boka will become a meeting place of traditional flavours, gastronomic innovation, solidarity and creativity. Visitors will have the opportunity to taste local specialities prepared on site by local fishermen and shellfish farmers.
The menu will feature picarel and mussels, as well as dishes prepared from the blue crab, an invasive species whose presence poses a challenge to Adriatic ecosystems. In this way, gastronomy will also serve as an opportunity to highlight the importance of responsible management of marine resources and the preservation of Adriatic biodiversity.
For those with a sweet tooth, there will be a special corner featuring authentic Kotor krempita (cream cake), along with a selection of wines from local wineries.
Food and drinks will be available through coupons at a symbolic price of 2 euros per portion, so that every visitor simultaneously contributes to the charitable cause.
The good atmosphere and Mediterranean spirit of the evening will be ensured by klapa Incanto.
Creative corner and awards for the youngest
A special part of the programme is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., when the winners of the competition โLittle Artists for a Big Seaโ will be officially announced.
As part of this competition, teams of primary school pupils created sculptures from waste collected from the sea, linking art, creativity and environmental awareness. Their works will remind visitors that protecting the sea begins with changing our attitude towards waste and natural resources.
The Seafood Fair is part of the wider programme of the AdriBioPro2026 conference, which brings together in Kotor scientists, experts, institutions and other stakeholders dedicated to the protection of biodiversity and the sustainable development of the Adriatic.
We invite all people of good will to join us, support local producers, enjoy the flavours of the Adriatic and, through their presence and contribution, help those most in need.
