The Politecnico di Bari, in collaboration with the Puglia Region and within the Interreg IPA South Adriatic strategic project SA SKILLS – “High LEVEL and market-respondent Competences for a Blue and Digitalized Smart and skilled South Adriatic”, has launched the public call for admission to the First-Level University Master’s Programme in “Off Shore Energy Transition” for the Academic Year 2026/27.
This new international and interdisciplinary programme offers an opportunity for graduates interested in the energy transition, offshore renewable energy and the Blue Economy to develop advanced knowledge and competences for one of the most dynamic areas of sustainable economic development.
Applications can be submitted until 23:59 on 30 September 2026.
Why apply?
The Adriatic Sea is increasingly becoming a strategic space for renewable energy development, environmental protection, sustainable infrastructure and new Blue Economy value chains. The Off Shore Energy Transition Master has been developed to prepare professionals capable of understanding and responding to these interconnected technological, environmental and regulatory challenges.
The programme explores the new frontiers of the energy transition, with particular attention to renewable energy in the context of the Blue Economy and to the opportunities associated with the sustainable use of marine resources. It combines advanced technical approaches with knowledge of the challenges facing the maritime economy and provides participants with tools to understand relevant regulatory frameworks at national and international level, with particular reference to the Adriatic region and Albania, Italy and Montenegro.
The Master is designed to prepare participants to address the transformation of the global energy market with competence, innovation and an interdisciplinary perspective, contributing to the development of professional profiles specialising in the ecological and energy transition of marine and maritime areas.

An international programme designed for working and mobile learners
The Master will be delivered entirely in English and in blended mode, combining:
80% distance learning
20% face-to-face learning
teaching activities on three days per week
Thursday afternoon
Friday morning and afternoon
Saturday morning
This format is intended to facilitate participation while maintaining opportunities for direct interaction, practical learning and international exchange.
The programme lasts one academic year and comprises a total workload of 1,500 hours, corresponding to 60 University Educational Credits – CFU.
What will you study?
The curriculum brings together engineering, energy, environmental and maritime perspectives through nine specialised teaching modules, followed by an internship and a final examination.
1. EU Energy Planning – 5 CFU
Participants will approach energy planning within the European context, providing a policy and strategic foundation for understanding the broader energy transition.
2. Environmental Impact Assessments – 5 CFU
The module addresses environmental assessment as a key component of responsible planning and implementation of energy and infrastructure projects.
3. Coastal Engineering – 5 CFU
Students will develop knowledge related to coastal engineering, an essential field for understanding infrastructure and technical interventions in marine and coastal environments.
4. Durability of Offshore Structures and Materials – 5 CFU
The programme addresses the performance and durability of structures and materials operating under demanding offshore conditions.
5. Offshore Renewable Energy Technologies – 5 CFU
This module focuses directly on technologies supporting the development and deployment of renewable energy in offshore environments.
6. Offshore Energy Networks – 5 CFU
Participants will examine the energy-network dimension of offshore energy systems and their integration.
7. Technologies and Processes for Offshore Energy Production – 5 CFU
The module provides specialised knowledge of technologies and processes connected with offshore energy production.
8. Wind Energy – 5 CFU
Students will explore wind energy as one of the central technologies contributing to the renewable-energy transition.
9. Marine Pollution and Environmental Treatment – 5 CFU
The programme also addresses environmental pressures and treatment solutions, connecting offshore energy development with the need to protect marine ecosystems.
Together, the nine modules account for 45 CFU and 360 hours of teaching activities. The programme is completed by a 5-CFU internship and a 10-CFU final examination, bringing the total to 60 CFU.
A written assessment will be held at the end of each teaching module to verify the knowledge acquired by students.
Who can apply?
The call is open without restrictions related to age or citizenship to candidates who meet the academic admission requirements.
Applicants may access the Master with:
an Italian three-year university degree obtained under the relevant Italian university regulations;
an equivalent foreign qualification, subject to assessment under the conditions specified in the official call;
a university degree obtained under the Italian regulations preceding D.M. 509/99.
Candidates who already hold the required qualification by the deadline may apply.
Candidates who are completing their degree may also participate in the selection procedure, provided that they obtain the required admission qualification by the examination session following the beginning of the Master’s teaching activities. Such candidates may be admitted conditionally.
International applicants are strongly encouraged
The international dimension is integral to the programme. Candidates holding qualifications awarded outside Italy may apply, with their academic qualification assessed in accordance with the procedures described in the official call.
The documentation submitted must provide sufficient information to establish, among other elements, the type of qualification, normal duration of the study programme, awarding institution, date of award and final grade or assessment within the relevant higher-education grading system.
Maximum 30 participants
The Master is a limited-enrolment programme.
A minimum of 20 enrolled participants is required for activation of the Master, while the maximum number of available places is 30.
This limited cohort provides a strong basis for specialised learning, interaction among participants and the development of an international professional network around offshore energy and Blue Economy challenges.
Up to 20 full tuition-fee exemptions
One of the most important opportunities offered through the cooperation between the Puglia Region and Politecnico di Bari is financial support for participants.
The standard enrolment fee for the Master is €1,500, payable in two instalments:
€750 upon enrolment
€750 before the beginning of Module 9
Students are also responsible for the stamp duties required by law.
The first 20 candidates in the merit ranking may receive a full exemption from the €1,500 Master enrolment fee.
Under the cooperation agreement between the Puglia Region and Politecnico di Bari, the candidates occupying the first 20 positions in the final merit ranking may benefit from exemption from the Master enrolment fee.
If one or more beneficiaries do not enrol or formally withdraw, the benefit may be reassigned by moving down the merit ranking, until the maximum number of exemptions has been awarded.
This represents an important opportunity to participate in a specialised international 60-CFU programme without paying the €1,500 tuition fee, subject to ranking among the eligible beneficiaries.
How are candidates selected?
Selection is based on the assessment of the candidate's:
· Curriculum vitae et studiorum – maximum 20 points
· Academic and other qualifications – maximum 10 points
· Motivation – maximum 20 points
The maximum possible score is therefore 50 points.
Candidates must achieve at least 25 points to pass the selection procedure. In the event of equal scores, priority is given to the younger candidate.
The final merit ranking will be published by the Politecnico di Bari through its official online notice board and the section of its website dedicated to university Master programmes.
Publication of the ranking constitutes the official notification to candidates; individual notifications concerning the result will not be sent. Successful candidates must subsequently complete enrolment according to the procedures and deadlines specified by Politecnico di Bari.

Candidates are required to submit their application electronically through the Esse3 portal of the Politecnico di Bari.
The online application procedure must be completed no later than 23:59 on 30 September 2026.
Applicants must:
register on the Politecnico di Bari Esse3 portal, unless they already have valid access credentials;

upload the required application documents;
pay the €30 competition fee through PagoPA by the application deadline.
The €30 competition fee is non-refundable, and payment alone does not constitute an application: the online application procedure must also be properly completed.

Candidates are strongly encouraged not to wait until the final day to complete registration, upload documents and make the required payment. The official call expressly recommends making the payment promptly after registering the application in Esse3.
Documents required
Applicants should prepare the following mandatory documentation:
1. Curriculum vitae et studiorum
The CV must use the template provided by the Politecnico di Bari.
2. Valid identification document
Depending on the applicant's nationality and issuing country, the accepted document may be an identity card, driving licence or passport, in accordance with the conditions specified in the official call.
3. Declaration/documentation concerning the qualification used for admission
Candidates with qualifications obtained in Italy must provide the information and documentation specified by the Politecnico di Bari, including information on academic qualifications, examinations and grades.
Candidates with foreign qualifications must submit documentation issued by the academic institution, including:
degree certificate/diploma and final grade;
official transcript of examinations completed during the entire university programme, including grades;
any additional documentation considered useful for determining the eligibility of the qualification, such as a Diploma Supplement or Declaration of Value, where applicable.
4. Motivation letter
Applicants must submit a motivation letter of up to 3,000 characters, explaining their interests and motivations in relation to the choice of the Master programme.
Applicants may also submit optional documentation concerning additional qualifications relevant to the assessment.
Documents must be uploaded in PDF format, with each individual file not exceeding 5 MB. After final submission of the application data, the application itself can no longer be modified, although supporting documents may be added, replaced or amended until the deadline. No document integration will be accepted after the call closes.
Attendance and completion
Participation in teaching activities is compulsory.
Students must attend at least 80% of the total teaching hours. Absence exceeding 20% of the total teaching hours prevents the student from obtaining the qualification. Suspension of attendance is not permitted.
Learning is assessed through a written examination at the end of each module.
At the end of the Master, students must also complete a mandatory final examination consisting of the discussion of a written work on a topic agreed with the Master Coordinator.
Successful completion of the programme leads to the award by the Politecnico di Bari of the First-Level University Master Diploma in “Off Shore Energy Transition”.
